Giving Thanks!

This week our theme was Giving Thanks! We learned about the first thanksgiving, shared what we are thankful for, made turkey crafts, gobbled in the turkey trot parade, and ate our own thanskgiving dinner! On Friday we had a Doodlebugs! pajama party. We watched Toy Story 3 and ate popcorn in our pajamas.
Our poem of the week was:

Five little turkeys standing by a door.
One waddled off and then there were four.
Four little turkeys under a tree.
One waddled off and then there were three.
Three little turkeys with nothing to do.
One waddled off and then there were two.
Two little turkeys in the noonday sun.
One waddled off an then there was one.
One little turkey better run away,
Or he'll get eaten on Thanksgiving Day!

Transportation!

This week the students learned about transportation! We had many fun transportation centers, including a transportation street mat, a car wash, vehicle felt board, and painting vehicles at the easel. Students even built an airport with blocks and packed their bags! They used their imagination to go to fun places. Some of their destinations included "Aruba, Disney World, Australia to see the koala bears, Brazil, and faraway places." We painted vehicles, read stories about things that go, and created a school bus of the future! Our school bus flies in the sky and uses popcorn as fuel.
Our poem of the week was:

Can you see the Traffic light?
Traffic Light, Traffic Light!
Can you see the Traffic light?
Traffic Light, Traffic Light!
That tells you what to do.
Green means go.
Go, go, go!
Yellow means slow.
Slow, slow, slow!
And red means stop.
Stop, stop, stop!

**Thank you for all your canned food donations and recipes! Look for our class recipe book soon.

Healthy Nutrition!

The theme of the week was "Healthy Nutrition!" We learned all about the five food groups on the food pyramids. We taste tested yummy healthy treats, made food collages, a cornucopia, graphs of our favorite foods, and even dipped half a potatoe into brown paint to make the body for a colorful turkey. Our poem of the week was a dance too!

For grains, do the monkey.
Move your arms up and down!

For veggies do the twist.
Twist yourself around!

For fruit, do the slide.
Slide your feet!

For dairy, do the cha cha.
Feel the cha cha beat!

For meat, fish, and beans do the pogo.
Bounce your body!

Thank you for bringing in canned foods for the food drive! Please do not forget to bring in your favorite recipe printed on the computer for our class recipe book.
